Sunrisers coming onto the field now. I bought a t-shirt from them tonight. "The Laws of Drum Corps".
Ok Sun... let's see you bring even more to the field tonight!
Opening hit from Sunrisers. They've also come to play. Very balanced hornline, not easy to do with a small hornline.
I have to say, the orange and blue scheme of the corps uniforms is very striking.
Fabric is working much better tonight!! Recoils, etc...
Sunrisers 2007 Program: "Cirque du Soleil Se Levant"
PART I - "Atmadja" from Quidam
PART II - "Distorted" from La Nouba
PART III - "Seisouso" (Quidam) "Urban" (La Nouba)
PART IV - ""Ninkou Latora" / "Incantation" from Dralion & Quidam
It's amazing how well Cirque de Soleil music works for drum corps.
Nice middle horn articulation. Very clean and defined.
Yeah...snares!!
Very nice passthrough moves by the hornline leading into trading off 16th note runs between sections.
Sun's color guard is looking really strong tonight
Excellent soprano high note to end the first selection.
Percussion groove against the brass worked very well. Nice completion of this production.
Guard soloist nailed his saber toss. Sop/mello duet to start the next piece performed well.
More fabrics, this time blue, in use by the guard.
Interesting. The sabers have straps on them much like rifles would. the guard is using them very effectively.
Beautiful blue flags of various shades on the field now.
Those blue fabrics are made of a shiny elastic material which the guard uses well, impressing their shape into the fabric before letting go, allowing the elastic to snap the flag to the ground.
Sweet crossfade....
Snare feature is clean. Good night for the Sun drumline.
Ending of that production is quite effective with the drill cross throughs!
Great build by the hornline to a strong hit. Sunrisers are definitely on tonight.
Excellent drum solo with a rifle toss to finish it off.
Dan Ray would be interested to know that the guard is using curved wooden "commas" in the vague shape of rifles, but not actual rifles.
Brilliant orange flags. What color to end the show!
Powerful ending by the Sunrisers. That's two corps that have come to play tonight.
Glad I'm not a judge.
Bust of Orange color at the end with brass charging forward = super effective!
From the encore:
Sunrisers are coming back for their 2007 DCA Class A Champion encore performance.
Sunrisers are doing a standstill encore. They just played backfield to the Bucs, who are massed in back celebrating and waiting their turn. Bucs just showed their appreciation.
Excellent final impact for the opener!
Mellophone and soprano soloists trading off during the ballad.
Very nice crescendo to the release for the climax to the ballad.
Sunrisers are trying to do their encore while the fireworks go off at Frontier Field.
Brass is really getting a chance to shine. Colorguard is in back doing their work.
A very balanced hornline sound. Too bad the #### fireworks are going off.
Sweet snare roll.
The two contras are really coming through loud and clear.
Not a problem, though. Sun just hit their first big impact.
Strong sopranos, very tight articulation and very in tune.
It's very clear why this corps won high brass. They play so well together.
The drumline is doing a great job, as well. Neither section is overpowering the other, though.
There's those awesome orange flags for the end of the show.
Wonderful job for the encore. Hopefully they'll include this on the CDs and/or DVDs.
Sun bass line plays the corps out of the stadium. Congratulations on your 2007 championship!
